Tartuffe - Moliere - at the Northcott

11-15 October - We are going on Thurs 13th at 7.30
More details from the Northcott Website
"Tartuffe is a beacon of piety and has his feet firmly under the table in the home of wealthy merchant, Orgon.  But all is not as it seems and as Orgon becomes enraptured with Tartuffe the whole city is chattering.  Is he friend, fraud, miracle or hypocrite?  The family smells a rat and amid the frills and frivolity of Seventeenth Century society, they hatch a cunning plan to outwit the wily deceiver before he brings their house crashing down...
Originally presented to great acclaim in Liverpool, this fresh and vibrant translation of the classic comedy by Molière (The Misanthrope, The School for Wives, The Miser) reunites ETT with the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse following their hilarious joint production of Roger McGough's version of Molière's The Hypochondriac.
Awarded Producer of the Year 2010 by the Stage Newspaper, ETT's most recent visits to Exeter Northcott include Far From the Madding Crowdand Rum and Coca Cola."

Fair Maid of the West - Thomas Heywood 1599

Fri 26th Aug -
Sun 11th Sep
The Fair Maid Of The West:
Creative Cow Theatre Company

"A fantastic piece of theatre! A real romp involving much swashbuckling on the high seas, led by Bess Bridges, landlady of the Windmill pub in Fowey.

Donning doublet and hose, this courageous Cornish lass turns to piracy, and sets off on a mission to find her lover who has been captured off the coast of Spain.

Written by Thomas Heywood in 1599, every time it is performed this epic yarn proves that Shakespeare wasn't the only Elizabethan playwright who came up with colourful characters, great comedy and a cracking story.
